From carrier-grade telecommunications infrastructure to advanced fibre optic and hybrid network technologies, our team brings decades of hands-on expertise across engineering, product development, manufacturing, and network deployment.
Leadership Team
With over 40 years of experience across telecommunications engineering, fibre optics, carrier infrastructure, and network technology development, Bill Kotsakidis has played a significant role in shaping telecommunications technologies and standards both in Australia and internationally.
Bill graduated from La Trobe University in 1985 with an Honours Degree in Applied Science and Engineering specialising in Telecommunications. His career began at Olex Cables as a Fibre Optic Engineer, where he developed testing methodologies for fibre optic cables deployed across the Telstra network.
Following this, Bill worked as a Communications Engineer at V/Line, managing installation and operations across telephony, radio systems, fibre links, and data communications infrastructure.
Between 1989 and 2000, Bill held senior engineering roles within Telstra, contributing to transmission engineering and national telecommunications standards. During this period, he was responsible for network infrastructure standards and played a key role in the transition of Plesiochronous networks from unbalanced to balanced interfaces at 2, 8, and 34 Mb/s. His work contributed to proposals submitted to CCITT for international interface standards.
Bill also contributed to the development of Digital Data Networks, NTU technologies, DSL infrastructure, network interface devices, and standards for internet network testing across carrier environments.
From 2000 to 2016, Bill served as Business Development Manager and later CTO at Warren & Brown Technologies, overseeing operations across Australia, Asia, India, China, and the USA. During this time, he led the development of carrier-grade optical fibre products including splice systems, HDODF infrastructure, hybrid mobile systems, DWDM access networks, and integrated high-density optical distribution systems.
Since founding Diamond Optics in 2016, Bill has led the development of the company’s technology portfolio, including:
- Hybrid carrier systems for major telecommunications providers
- Optical amplification systems
- RFID fibre identification technologies
- Microwave connectivity systems
- Fibre and power integrated infrastructure solutions
- Advanced optical network products for telecommunications and data centre applications
Bill continues to oversee product innovation, engineering development, and strategic customer partnerships across Diamond Optics’ telecommunications and infrastructure solutions.

Basil Kurian Engineering Production Manager
Basil Kurian brings more than 16 years of Australian and international experience in fibre optic product development, engineering, design, and manufacturing.
As Engineering Production Manager at Diamond Optics, Basil plays a key role in the development and production of high-performance fibre optic and telecommunications solutions supporting carrier, data centre, and infrastructure applications.
With deep expertise across fibre optic technologies and manufacturing processes, Basil has contributed to the advancement of products and systems supporting Australia’s rapidly evolving telecommunications and 5G infrastructure.
His experience spans:

Jason joined Diamond Optics in 2021 and quickly established himself as a valuable member of the team through his enthusiasm, initiative, and willingness to learn. Entering the telecommunications and fibre optic industry with a fresh perspective, he began his career supporting product operations and production activities, gaining a hands-on understanding of the products, processes, and quality standards that underpin the business.
Recognising his aptitude for design and engineering, Jason transitioned into a dedicated design role, where he leveraged his existing CAD experience to rapidly develop his skills in SolidWorks. Since then, he has become an integral part of Diamond Optics' product development team, transforming concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions for customers across the telecommunications sector.
With a strong background in 3D printing and rapid prototyping, Jason has helped streamline the development process by creating functional prototypes that allow new designs to be tested, refined, and validated before production. His ability to combine innovative thinking with practical engineering principles has contributed to the successful delivery of numerous products, ranging from standard cable assemblies and patching solutions through to highly customised designs tailored to unique customer requirements.
Today, Jason continues to expand his technical expertise while playing a key role in the leading the design team at Diamond Optics as well as the development of new products. His commitment to continuous improvement, attention to detail, and collaborative approach make him an important contributor to Diamond Optics' ongoing success and innovation.
